Libraries make a lot of people a little uncomfortable because many believe that you must already know a lot to be there, know how to find things yourself, that librarians feel like they know everything and you don't, and that it is here to just quietly read books about stuff you already learn in your textbooks.
The Personal Librarian Program is designed to make all incoming freshmen more at ease in the library and to the resources and services of the UWF Libraries. We are dedicated to helping you become successful researchers, and we want to make sure you feel welcome and comfortable using the UWF Libraries.
The PL program gives students a personalized and direct link to the library and is a great way to help them learn more about UWF and all it has to offer. We believe this personal contact facilitates access to library materials, answers questions, and makes the UWF Libraries a more useful, tailored resource for our students.
A student will typically work more frequently with their PL during their freshman year. Once a student becomes more familiar with the Libraries and/or declares a major, they will work with a Subject Specialist Librarian who can provide discipline-specific research assistance.
