This guide was created for students in Dr. Marie Therese Champagne's The Vikings in History and Legend (EUH 4185) class. This course surveys the history of Scandinavian peoples up to c. 1300 AD, including Norse society and culture, seafaring technology, commercial expansion, military conflict, and religious expression. Norse expansion into the British Isles, Western and Eastern Europe, Iceland and Greenland, and across the North Atlantic will be explored, as well as the cultural legacy of the “Vikings.”
