MLA Citation Style, 8th Edition

This guide will provide rules and examples for using MLA citation style.

Multimedia Sources

Multimedia sources may be cited in a number of ways, and it is important to remember that MLA 8, essentially, requires the same thing from all sources. Below, the requirements are listed out with some common parallels you may see in multimedia formats.

1. Author. If focusing on a director or actor, list them as the author (with director or performer by their names). If not, leave it blank. Podcast Host.
2. Title of Source Name of "TV Show Episode" or Movie. "Title of Podcast Episode."
3. Title of Container Name of TV series, blank for movie. Title of Podcast,
4. Other Contributors Actor performances or directors you wish to highlight. Any guests you wish to highlight.
5. Version
6. Number season and episode #. season, episode #
7. Publisher name of network or movie publisher (e.g. Miramax) name of radio station
8. Publication date Date it aired, was released. Date it aired, was released.
9. Location   URL
2nd Container* (#3 repeated) Streaming service, if applicable, e.g. Netflix,
