Currently, 3D printing for coursework, research and capstone projects is free of charge - (up to 1kg of filament). For capstone projects students must complete the 3D printing information form and submit the files to be printed to the Skylab manager for approval. Coursework requires instructor approval. If just a few 3D prints are needed for a faculty research project, the parts can be printed by Skylab Staff; however, for larger scale research projects involving larger numbers of items, someone will need to be delegated to complete the 3D prints e.g. - faculty, graduate assistants and or students. The Skylab/Makerspace does not offer 3D design/drafting services. Researchers who need to have something designed will need to find someone to do the drafting work if they are not familiar with 3D modeling.

Students are required to purchase their own filament if the project will require than 1KG of filament. Additionally, students are required to complete Skylab Makerspace 3D printing training and print their own models.
