What is in American FactFinder?

The following statistical data streams are available through American FactFinder:

  • American Community Survey - a nationwide survey documenting community change
  • American Housing Survey - a comprehensive housing survey, in 29 cities and the nation as a whole
  • Annual Surveys of Governments - characteristics and key activities of state and local governments
  • Census of Governments - conducted every 5 years; organization, structure, function, funding, finances of local governments
  • Annual Economic Surveys - over 100 surveys covering various sectors of the economy (Annual Survey of Manufacturers, Business Patterns, Nonemployer Statistics)
  • Decennial Census - collects data every 10 years on age, sex, race, housing units, and much more
  • Economic Census - profiles the U.S. economy every 5 years
  • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Tabulation - estimates from the ACS of the race, ethnicity, and sex composition of the workforce by occupation and geography
  • Population Estimates Program - estimates population totals for the previous year for cities, towns, counties, states
  • Puerto Rico Community Survey - the equivalent of the ACS for Puerto Rico

American FactFinder, from the U. S. Bureau of the Census, provides access to data about the United States, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. It is an important source for population, housing, economic and geographic information. The data in American FactFinder come from several government-sponsored censuses and surveys.
