What is JBI?

Joanna Briggs Institute provides the best available evidence to inform clinical decision making at the point of care. JBI provides point of care access to evidence databases, decision support systems, and implementation/evaluation tools.

  • Evidence Summary- Short abstracts that summarize existing evidence on common healthcare interventions; summaries are used for decision support
  • Evidence Based Recommended Practice- Describes a recommended practice for an activity that is meant to assist a patient; includes the equipment list, safety provisions, and evidence summary
  • Best Practice Information Sheets- Based on results from many systematic reviews; provides access to key issues and recommendations that have been collected from a large amount of material; includes summary diagram of information
  • Consumer Information Sheet- Directed for the patient; provides overview and evidence on issue
  • Systematic Review- Academic literature that answers a clinical question by developing a methodical, in-depth information search strategy 
  • Systematic Review Protocols- The document that is published to the systematic review
  • Technical Report- Documents the development of the best practice information sheets from the source systematic review
