Multicultural Education

An interdisciplinary professional organization founded in 1979 to promote the interchange of ideas among scholars and administrators in all of the arts and sciences on intellectual and organizational issues related to furthering integrative studies.

The mission of the center is to assist the nation's diverse students at risk for educational failure to achieve academic excellence. Central to its mission, CREDE's research and development focuses on critical issues in the education of linguistic and cultural minority students and those placed at risk by factors of race, poverty, and geographic location. CREDE's research program is based on a sociocultural framework that is sensitive to diverse cultures and languages.

This organization promotes educational excellence and equity through bilingual education. The National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) is the only national organization exclusively concerned with the education of language-minority students in American schools.
